Rent receipt template
A clean one-page receipt with lines for the date, tenant, rent period, amount, payment method and your signature. Print it blank or fill it in first.
Download the blank receipt
One receipt per page, ready to fill in by hand. Free, with a small line at the bottom of the page.
Blank or filled in?
The blank template suits a landlord who writes receipts at the door: print a few pages, write the details in pen and hand the top copy over. Each page has the same lines, so nothing gets left out, and a box for the receipt number lets you keep them in order.
If you would rather type, the receipt maker fills the same layout in for you, adds the next receipt number and can place your signature on it. The template and the filled receipt look alike, so mixing them in one binder is fine.

Questions
Is the template really free?
Yes. The blank PDF is free for up to four pages at a time, with a small “Made free at Rent Receipt Maker” line at the bottom. Nothing to sign up for.
Can I edit the template in Word?
No, it is a PDF. To get typed text, fill the receipt in on the home page instead; the layout is the same.
US Letter or A4?
Pick the size you print on. US Letter is the standard in the United States and Canada; A4 is used almost everywhere else.
Do I have to give my tenant a receipt?
It depends on the state, province or city and on how the rent is paid. A written receipt is good practice whatever the rule is, and cash is the case where it matters most. Check your local landlord-tenant rules.
