What a good rent receipt shows
A receipt is proof that rent was paid. The useful ones carry the same few facts every time: who paid and who received the money, the address, the month the rent covers, the date and amount, how it was paid and a signature. This page puts those in one form, numbers each receipt in sequence and keeps the layout the same from month to month.

Is the rent receipt maker free?
Yes. Single receipts are free and unlimited, one per page, with a small “Made free at Rent Receipt Maker” line at the bottom. The Landlord Pack ($4.99, one time) adds a full year of receipts in one PDF, a yearly summary, two or three receipts per page, your logo and no free line.
Is my tenant’s information safe?
The receipt is built in your browser. Names, addresses and amounts are not uploaded, and receipt details are not stored on a server. A copy of your last receipt stays in your own browser’s storage so the next one is quicker to fill in.
How does the receipt numbering work?
Set a prefix if you want one and the first number. After each PDF, print or copy the number goes up by one, so receipt 0001 is followed by 0002. You can change the number at any time.
Do I have to give my tenant a receipt?
It depends on the state, province or city and on how the rent is paid. A written receipt is good practice whatever the rule is, and cash is the case where it matters most. Check your local landlord-tenant rules.
Can I make a receipt for a partial payment?
Yes. Enter the rent and the amount you actually received. The receipt shows the balance still due. If a late fee applies, add it and it is included in the amount due.
